Battery Neglect can also cause unsafe work environments

Federal, state and local fire and HAZMAT codes mandate spill containment systems for flooded lead acid battery banks. If a battery leaks, it can pose a threat to personnel and facility safety.

Industry best practice suggests replacement of a spill containment system whenever there is any evidence of a leak. With regular visual inspection, small leaks can be detected and addressed before they become larger and more dangerous hazards.

Important Service Announcement for Sites with APC Symmetra LX UPS Equipment

APC by Schneider Electric has recently announced they will no longer offer Single Phase Advantage Plans for APC Symmetra LX units older than 2007. Going forward, factory service coverage will only be available for the APC Symmetra LX through its 10th year of service. If you have one of these older units, contact me to discuss options to prolong useful service life and possible replacement.

Don’t know how old your UPS is? The date of manufacture is embedded in the serial number. The serial number is comprised of 2 letters followed by 10 numerals – example: AB1234567890. The first 2 numerals indicate the year of manufacture. If the series of numerals in your serial number begins with 07, 08, 09 or older, please contact me right away. Sites with units manufactured in 08, 09, and 10 also have options to help prolong the useful service life, contact me to help plan for the end of your unit’s factory coverage.
